Kinkaku-ji Temple

The Kinkaku-ji temple is topped with a bronze phoenix.  It's also known as the Golden Temple, which doesn't come through in this still-striking photo.

Himeji Castle

The family posed in front of Himeji castle.  I think that's the main castle building visible in the background on the left.

Boats for hire lined up at a dock.  This was at a park in Japan, though I don't remember precisely where.

Stone House (watercolor)

This is the most detailed of RTH's watercolors that I'm aware of.  It's hanging in JLH's apartment.  JLH thinks this was sketched on site near Eugene, Oregon, while a few of us waited in the car.

Pavilion at Terra Uchi

This is a sketch that RTH did in February of 1995 of the pavilion he built behind Terra Uchi, the earth-covered passive solar home he built in northern Virginia.

Movie shoot

This is more interesting for the event it reminds me of than the image itself.  This was taken at our first Zushi house, which makes it about 1968.  This is the view down our driveway, which was maybe 30 meters long.  The beach is another 50 meters to the left from here.  The stand they are building is for a movie shoot, with an (apparently) famous movie star on location.
